This may be the last of the trail rides at the Ranch

I am wearing a go pro camera on my helmet, so get ready to feel seasick.  Also it was a windy day and that obliterates most of what we are saying. This is  about ten minutes of a thirty minute ride on the trails at the Ranch where we keep our horses in Simi Valley California. In April we will we will be leaving the ranch, as supposedly it has been sold. I am riding 23 year old Morgan mare Coco. My husband Doug is riding 12 year old Morgan gelding Knight.

A big storm is coming on Friday.

So I thought I would take pictures of my garden before the  daffodils got rained on.

We went back out to the new horse boarding place

We went out for the third time. Doug's son Jonathan came with us. This time we walked to the back of the property and surprise, there was a small network of trails there !! I was up early this morning and found the address of the owner of the place we are leaving. I composed a letter saying what a hardship it was for us and the other boarders to pull up roots and leave. The owner, who inherited the Ranch from her father in November is Nikki Roth married to actor Tim Roth. I mailed two letters that were the same to the most recent addresses that I found on "people finder."

Whether she bothers to reply or not remains to be seen. But in the meantime I think that we can make a go of it at the new place for a while. Did I say it is a lot cheaper than where we are now.

The new place the back of the pens where out horses will be.

there are turnouts and arenas here

nice Pepper trees for shade everywhere

The front of what will be our pens

I am upset and trying to deal with having to move from the Ranch

Doug and I went over to see more of where we are moving the horses and I want to cry. Where we were was paradise in comparison. But we did meet two women there. They said that when the place where we are going was put up for sale everyone was told to vacate, and then when a new owner came most of them moved back again. I do so hope this is the case. That the Ranch will have a new owner and all will be well. We wont know for a while as May is when everyone moves out. Then how long would the Ranch take to sell.

We got news on Saturday that all of us at the Ranch have to vacate

Cynthia the Barn manager came down to tell us we all have to be off the ranch by May 1st. She said she did not know who the person was giving these orders, except that it was a man. She said she thinks the Ranch has been sold privately.  Devasting news as we love it there and have been there a long time, it would be 7 years this June.

So Doug got busy right away before the other boarders did and contacted our good friend who knows what is out there. She referred us to a place just across the way that is amazing. We now have four stalls booked for April, and they were the last stalls available and in a row together. There are about 40 horses at the Ranch and Cynthia was living there. So it is hardest for her.

I get a new stove and dishwasher.

Out went our old stove and dishwasher dating from the 1980's. The stoves oven finally gave out, and the dishwasher was loosing prongs due to interior rust.  So we bought new Kitchenaid ones. It took husband Doug with the help of his son several hours to get the wiring and water lines hooked up for the dishwasher, and then it was a tight fit in the space left by the old one. The stove was installed by the men who delivered it.

A new baby horse at the Ranch

We have had new boarders come in to the ranch and one of them has a mare who foaled. The foal was not born at the ranch, he was born at a vet clinic as this is a first foal. He is  a week old.  Lots of excitement has been generated, as this has not happened at the ranch for a very long time. The sire is a reining stallion and the dam has the classic Doc Bar lines. So an all around cutter, reiner and cow horse foal. The sire is a red dun.
