I spent  a couple of days painting the walls in my office. They were a pale aquamarine blue and now are a grey tone. I got a five gallon bucket and mixed some paint together that we already had. I was happy to finally paint over the words etched in the paint on one of the closet doors that said " blaze all day" This room was the bedroom for the daughter of the people that had the house before us.

The forecast sad it would rain and late morning we got the start of a nice steady rain that hopefully will last as the forecast says thorough tomorrow. I took some of the California poppies that have self seeded in the front garden and planted them in one of the flower beds in the back garden. We went out to the horses as usual and Bouncer the old Appaloosa is looking more and more limber with each day. I found out that he is 26, younger and in a lot worse shape than Karrot who will be 29 this March and can still be ridden. Bouncer was left in his pen for possibly years with out turn out and I think that his whole body atrophied. Doug and I have taken it upon ourselves to turn him out every day, he goes out with Karrot. Pesky chased him a lot the one and only time that we tried all four horses out together.
I am looking forward to when our farrier comes, we will ask him to trim Bouncer as he also drags his toes when he walks.
It feels really good to help an animal that can not help itself.

Doug and I have been sick for many days with a virus that has been going around. It  affects mostly the lungs and keeps you up all night with a cough, we discovered cough medicine !! I went out to the horses by myself yesterday and Doug did likewise last week when I was in the middle of the sickness. Basically it takes all you strength away and you want to do nothing. We are fortunate that we live where it is sunny and warm, it certainly helps to be outside in the sunshine.
We had friends Julie and Cameron visit on Monday and Doug took them to dinner as I felt to out of it to go. It feels really good to be getting better and feeling more energetic. I managed to refinish our dining table which had been bothering me for some time. Now all the old shellac is off and I have stained and waxed it, no more worries about  water marks.
One of our two hens laid an egg today, the first egg of the season. Rain is forecast for next week.

My son Eddy and his wife Stephanie came to visit for a day and a half. They arrived in Las Vegas several days ago from New York. They had come with two friends to attend another friends wedding in Irvine. The drove from Las Vegas and visited Death Valley and the Owens Valley en route. Then we met Eddy and Stephanie in Korea Town LA and had dinner at a Korean Bar B Cue and then drove them to our house. Then today we took them back to LA to meet up with their friends to return to New York. I was happy to take them out to
where we keep the horses yesterday so that they could see the old building site and also the Arroyo.
