I had a thing with my sister today about her horse and the bit it wears. The pictures show her horse and its bit which I say is too wide and she says in not. What do you think? The top 3 pictures are the too wide bit and the bottom the correct width. If I am wrong I would like to know.
Hmmm, whilst the top picture especially makes the bit look too wide, I would be inclined to say that the bottom one needs to be a tad bigger (or with an eggbutt ring) as that loose-ring could pinch. That's just me (ex Pony Club instructor) on her high horse though! If the horse is going nicely in it, then there's no problem.
ReplyDeleteNo you are right. That is another issue, the too narrow bit and pinching. I think pinching is the worst of the two evils. My sister is looking into it and all will be well. With the too wide the bit slides and bruises the mouth if the rider has rough hands. Thankfully the rider in this case is a good one. Kudos to you for being a Pony Club instructor. My sister and I are both Pony Club graduates. I am in my 60's now so that was awhile ago and in England.
