Tandy was tried in a hackamore

Tandy seemed to enjoy not having a bit in his mouth and was controllable. He is very mouthy with all  the bits we have tried. He may have wolf teeth, but in the meantime Doug decided to just use a hackamore.

  1. The minute you said he was fussy with his mouth, I thought wolf teeth. My horse Fahal had them and we got them removed (easy job). I rode him in a cross-over bitless bridle for a while. Glad that Tandy is going well in the hackamore. Who needs a bit if that works with him?

  2. Rick did a dental on Stella Monday, and said she has big wolf teeth. Opted to leave them in for now (didn't want to add more anesthesia at that time) and wait to see if they bother her. I've been riding her in a German hackamore, but entered our first show(!) so she'll have to go in a bit for that.

  3. I have had them removed on other horses that I have owned. It is now controversial as to what exactly happens when a bit is in their mouths. For now Doug is interested in getting a traditional Bosal. I would much rather have a direct rein at all times LOL.
